Pendant（パンダン）とは、フランス語で「～の間」を意味することば。写真における「光」を意識して撮影を続けていた東野翠れんが、自身の出産を経て約6年間に撮影した写真とともに約60年前にイスラエル人の祖父によって撮られていた写真と出合い、あらためて実感した「時間の連なり」への想いが本には込められています。　　　　　　　
 
 
「過去の痛み、歴史の重み、個人の傷跡ではない写真。ではなにを撮っているのかということを考えると、それは〈ちょっと先の未来におく写真〉－－平和な世界がどんなところなのか、自分が忘れないためにも、いま目の前に見える一瞬の静けさ、光、その平安な時間を、今日、生きているということを祝福する写真を撮っているのだなと思う」

Photography Book 'Pendant 1957-2018' with Print

This photography book was published in 2018 to accompany Suilen Higashino’s photo exhibition titled 'Pendant 1957-2018'.
Containing 240 photographs, the book was designed by VACANT Tokyo where the exhibition opened and then went on to travel around Japan for one year.
 
Suilen Higashino was born in 1983 in Tokyo, Japan. 
She started taking photographs at 15 with her second-hand Nikon FM she got from her father and found her medium.
 
“It’s my own sensation of light that I capture in my photographs.“
